Americans in OZ

We are so pleased to hear that Barack Obama was successful in the US elections.  Whilst we were not in the states for the election, we could still share in the excitement that the American people have.  There is a very large job ahead of our president-elect, but we have faith that he and his team will do the best he can for the American people.  I am amazed at the different opinions and comments from all over the world, not just America or Australia for that matter.  That is what makes people unique.  We are all entitled to those opinions, and with the power of the “world wide web” it makes it ever so apparent.

We’ve been in Australia for many years now, but still feel connected to America through friends and family and the American influence here in Australia.  With the Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner (27 November) it is a very special family get together time in the US.  We celebrate here with other American friends that decided to migrate to Australia and call it home.  We try to keep it to tradition the best way possible, with turkey and all the trimmings.  Earlier days, I credit the American Women’s Club of Perth for keeping the American holidays alive for our families, especially our children - to remember their heritage.

We would like to take the opportunity now to wish our new president and his family a safe and successful presidency.  Happy Thanksgiving!
